History of the village and castle Lösnich
The history of our house is closely connected to our hometown.
At first the Celts came to the area at Lösnich and founded a settlement. A long time later the Romans came here and founded Lonsentum. They had brought the wine at the mosel and they had grown the wine-gardens here. A statue of the wine-god Sucellus from the 4th century is founded here.

The nobleman Konrad of Pfullingen was born 1016 in Swabia. He bcame assistant of the bishop from cologne. The bishop Anno, his uncle, sent him to Trier, to would became archbishop of Trier. The emperor Henry IV. Had given Konrad the signs from the bishop of Trier in 1066. Konrad became Kuno I. Archbishof of Trier. With the soldiers from the bishop Einhard from Speyer, Kuno I. Went on the way to his new home town. But the people and the priests of Trier were against Kuno I.. So they sent the castle-count Theoderich from Luxemburg with his soldiers against him. On th 18. may 1066 they captured him and brought him to a castle near Ürzig( its the on the other mosel-side from Lösnich ) .Two weeks Kuno I. Was a prisoner there. Then the soldiers took him and threw down from the rock there. But when they looked , he was not died. Also they took him again and threw him down from the rock. But like a miracle he was not died. Then they cut off his head and left this place and the dead-body still ley there.
The people of Lösnich saw these , took the dead-body and brought him to the church of Lösnich.
The bishop of Verdun heart these and came to took the dead-Body from Kuno I. To the chapel of Tholey. The people of Lothringen worship Kuno I. As a matyr and later he became holy. They protected the memory of him until today.
The rulership of Lösnich id mentioned in documents for the first time in the year 1230.
The homeland of the Lords of Loesenich was a small state with an own castle, as part of Kurköln, and own court sovereignity.
The knight Hermann von Loesenich was the first ruler of the town, who was ofen been mentioned in documents.
In 1697 the last lord of Lösnich died and the count of Kesselstadt took over the territories of Lösnich.
The relations of the family von Kesselstadt to Lösnich continued. In the year 1858 the municipality Lösnich aquired the Kesselstadt adinistration building for 1700 Taler. Since that time is served as a presbytery.
In the last century our family has got the area of the castle and they founded the wine estate 'Burgweinkellerei Simon'. In the year 2002 we build over the castle cellar a new holiday house with four holiday-flats.
